Aldous Huxley said, “Words have a magical effect in the way they are affect the minds of men.” Rudyard Kipling said, “Words are the most powerful drug used by mankind.” Mark Twain stated, “The difference between the right word and the almost right word is like the difference between lightning and a lightning bug!”
My choice of words when I hypnotize or give positive instructions for a life change, are all positive and planned to program a healthy life change in the subconscious mind. The words you choose in your self-talk have an equally powerful effect on your life, health, and success. Words can either heal us or kill us. We must be mindful of our words, our thoughts, our mind and our mouth.
People who are hypnotized are extremely literal in their interpretation of words. They respond with remarkable exactness of meaning. For example, if a hypnotized person is told to “lift your hand”, they would simply lift their hand, whereas, the average person who is not hypnotized would raise their entire arm. If a hypnotized person is asked, “Will you tell me your name?” they will likely say, “Yes”, whereas, an un-hypnotized person would say their name.
It is better to say to someone, “You are comfortable without any discomfort”, rather than saying, “You have no pain”, which reminds them of their pain.
To experience the power of words right now, really imagine the bones of your body have all left you; loosen that back; loosen that neck; let everything slow down; let your body melt; feel the tension draining out of your fingertips, draining out of your toes; forget about everyone and everything around you; close off the outside world; wrap your mind around these instructions. Notice how you feel when you imagine these words to be true for you: “I am feeling completely comfortable; relaxed; serene; peaceful; happy; calm, and confident”. These words go with you in a way that makes you feel good, now.
