Fast, Practical, Natural Pain Relief: There are many causes of pain. Check with your physician before using this technique. Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes, relax, and take in three long, slow, deep breaths, breathing out with a long, slow sigh. With your index finger of one hand, draw a picture in mid-air of the border of the pain, drawing every nook, cranny, and bend of the outside perimeter of the pain shape. Make the “drawing” as exact as possible. However, the “picture” should be done VERY SLOWLY (about 1 ½ to 2 minutes) and should be VERY LARGE (about 2 ½ feet high, wide). If possible, have someone watch and guide you so they can tell you to go slower or make a larger drawing. This is excellent for headaches and almost any other pain. The hundreds of people I have done this with have all told me their pain magically disappeared or reduced. After they used this technique, their face had a look of bewilderment and astonishment. They find it hard to believe this simple experience can make the pain vanish. Be sure to exactly follow all the instructions above for best results. Pain Control: Research published by The Association of Anesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland has proven that hypnosis can alter pain sensations and can also help patients deal with pain after surgery. In some cases, hypnosis can be as effective as anesthetic drugs. Hypnosis has been used world-wide as a tremendous help to control acute and chronic pain. Hypnosis has also proved useful for pain control on the battlefield in war when nothing was else was available and in surgery with certain patients who could die from anesthetics. Some surgeons have performed thousands of operations with only hypnotism as the method of pain control, including major operations.
Gastric Reflux: A researcher from a clinical hypnotherapy study at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester found that hypnosis can help non-cardiac chest pain caused by problems such as gastric reflux. Eighty percent of the patients receiving hypnotherapy claimed they achieved significant pain relief compared to only 1 in 13 of the placebo control group. Hypnotherapy also added to the patient’s sense of well-being and reduced their need for pain medication. These findings have also been confirmed within the field of neuroscience. Pain reduction can be used until the gastric reflux problem has been resolved. It should also be noted that how the patient perceives the symptom will affect how the symptom develops or heals. Pain increases with tension. When hypnosis is applied to create a deep relaxation of body and mind, pain diminishes or disappears. A relaxed mind is a strong mind.
Change Beliefs: Lauren Kessler, a professor at the University of Oregon uses hypnosis to change our beliefs about ageing. Her research shows that chronic stress is one of the major causes of ageing and that it affects cortisol levels, known as stress hormones, which cause physical disorders associated with the ageing process. Hypnosis combined with exercise and healthy eating can control cortisol levels in the body, so you will feel younger, fitter, and healthier. If you think of yourself as old and unwell, you will be less likely to do anything to change. In other words, your attitude can influence your body’s biology and your biological age. Keep your body moving with exercise and use hypnosis to keep yourself focused and motivated to believe you are young. Your body will respond to the age you believe yourself to be. Be sure your thoughts before sleep are healing, positive, and visualizing a greater tomorrow.
Wishing you many youthful, joyful days!
