Reese Witherspoon hypnotized and more!

Hello Friends,

Here are some current hypnosis articles appearing in the news, enjoy!

Hypnosis in the News:

Reese Witherspoon: Before filming the movie WILD in 2014, Reese was hypnotized to battle her nervousness, anxiety, and panic attacks about the filming. The film involved nudity, sexuality, drug use, and being alone on camera with no other actors for many days of filming. “I hadn’t ever been alone in scenes for days and days. There were probably 25 days of the shoot where I had no other actor opposite me. It was just me and a camera and a backpack”.  She reported that she was “so scared” about whether she could do justice to the material. All ended well as she was nominated for a Best  Actress Academy Award. Many actors and celebrities have used the hypnosis advantage to totally immerse in their new identity and fully experience the character of their role.

Weight Loss: A woman in the U.K. was drinking 12 soft drink cans of coke every day, even using coke instead of water, when swallowing pills to reduce pain. However, after listening to her hypnosis recording, she experienced diet and lifestyle changes with a loss of 11 pounds in 9 days. In total, she lost a third of her weight, 65 pounds. She refers to her hypnosis program as “meditating”. The recorded hypnotist instructions were planted into her subconscious mind for a mind reset. Following the hypnosis, she felt compelled to enjoy a daily morning exercise routine on the treadmill and to eat healthier foods, including more fruit and a lot of water. As a result of her new mindset, she also experienced an improved home and family life, was now engaged in more activities with her children, and her family became much happier. Similarly, many of my clients have lost up to 125 pounds, simply listening to my hypnosis recordings, never attending my live seminar.

Erotic Hypnosis: For many years, hypnosis has been used by physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, and hypnotherapists to help patients with sexual problems. Common uses of hypnosis are to help with erectile dysfunction, frigidity, vaginismus, etc. Erotic hypnosis or Hypno-Sex is also used to enhance romance including letting go and losing control, increasing sexual desire, feelings, and responses, making a fantasy seem real, or releasing inhibitions to enjoy the fun of new experiences. Sometimes partners will hypnotize each other to heighten or to try new experiences, without shyness. A professional hypnotherapist can also assist a client in overcoming past sexual trauma by working through issues and teaching new coping strategies. A hypnotist experienced in counselling and therapy can also help with relationship issues which may be at the core of a sexual problem. Hypnosis almost always will shorten the number of sessions required.

Doctors at British and Malaysian Clinical Hypnosis Virtual Conference Discuss Hypnosis:

Dr. Sri Latha Balakrishnan spoke of the use of hypnosis for Covid-19 frontline worker stress due to fears of getting infected or infecting their loved ones at home, lack of personal protective equipment and fear of making the wrong decisions. The doctor said that clinical hypnotherapy can help manage stress, fears, anxiety, insomnia, mild to moderate depression, adjustment disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as well as a better working attitude.

Dr. Chong Chee Kheong discussed the importance of hypnosis for mental healthcare. “Covid-19 caused a rise in social isolation, uncertainty, loss of loved ones and jobs, all of which have resulted in anxiety, depression and other emotional challenges.” Chong said that over 90% of calls made to government helplines were those requesting psychological and emotional support counselling. Issues that needed support included job losses, lack of income, family conflict, relationship problems, stigma against infections, isolation, and lack of access to assistance services. He said although clinical hypnotherapy has been recognized in medical illness management, especially for acute and chronic pain, it is also valuable for treatment of psychological and psychosocial issues such as depression and anxiety.

Claustrophobia: Recent medical research indicates that hypnosis is a valuable alternative to using sedation for patients unable to undergo MRI exams due to claustrophobia. Up to 15% of patients with claustrophobia require sedation to complete their scan.

In the study, a hypnotherapist gave patients a guided meditation hypnosis session outside the MRI room 30 minutes before the scan. Another benefit of using hypnosis is that it has no side effects and allows patients to drive back home safely, as opposed to pharmacological methods.

Stefania Rizzo, with the University of Lugano in Switzerland, and colleagues wrote: “Medical hypnosis can be an interesting non-pharmacologic option to overcome MRI related claustrophobia, at least in selected patients that are willing to take an active part in controlling claustrophobia and/or are not willing to undergo pharmacological sedation.”

Time Management: Minutes do count. We all have the same amount of time every day, month, and year. Yet, we all know someone who seems to get so much more done in the same amount of time. If we stop wasting and recapture just 4 daytime minutes every day, after one year, the gain will be over 24 daytime hours.

Enjoy the beautiful seasonal weather,
