I attended a Romane lose weight seminar with a girlfriend on Saturday, April 8, 2017. After listening to the Stop Sugar Addiction and the Lose Weight collection of CD’s, I am proud to say that I’ve lost 20lbs already!

Yes, I am drinking my 8 – 10 glasses of water a day.  Yes, I’m getting more active and got a Fitbit to track my 10,000 steps per day, BUT what has kept me motivated has been the hypnosis CD’s.

No question, that has been the difference between previous weight loss attempts and this one.  I KNOW I will be successful if I continue to listen to these CD’s every day.  I have only missed one day because my husband was rushed into surgery, but other than that, I look forward to listening to them each evening.

Romane will recommend that you do not listen to them before bed, but that is exactly when I listen.  I go to bed earlier than usual (mostly because I like to snack in the evening right before bed) and I put my headphones on.  I sometimes wake up to “And 5….YOU’RE WIDE AWAKE….WIDE AWAKE”.  It’s pretty funny because when I do manage to stay awake through the whole thing, I learn new things all the time, BUT the message does get through to the subconscious when you’re sleeping too.

This has by far, been the EASIEST weight loss I’ve ever experienced and the MOST weight I’ve lost, in the SHORTEST amount of time.  Add in the fact that I’m over 50 which is excruciatingly hard to lose weight as our metabolism is all wacky.

Romane tells you to eat slow….it helps!  He tells you to eat when you’re hungry and put the fork down when you’re full…..that’s HUGE. It’s amazing how much we eat AFTER our tummies are satisfied. I put a 1/3 of protein (meat) on my plate for dinner, generous amount of veggies and a smaller portion of carbs (which we’ve now been substituting with various vegetables…ex instead of mashed potatoes, we’ll make mashed cauliflower or instead of spaghetti, we’ll make spaghetti squash).  I almost always leave something on my plate because guess what???? My tummy is satisfied before I finish the “already reduced” portions on my plate.  I do snack more but I will have a sliced apple with yogurt and cinnamon instead of a bag of chips or a cinnamon bun.

I tell you…this hypnosis works!  Never in my wildest dreams would I think that I would be happy and satisfied to eat less, never feeling starved or deprived.  I choose better and get creative so that my taste buds are satisfied. 

The scale doesn’t lie folks!  Down 20 lbs. in 6 weeks.  What???  My goal is to be down 40 by the end of August and I’ll do it.  The good news is that SO CAN YOU!

Get the CD’s of whatever you are struggling with (weight loss, smoking, etc.) and just try it.  I don’t know Romane or his family, so this is not plug for him personally.  I cannot express enough how these CD’s help.  You have to do the work, but the work is so much easier when your subconscious is on board.

Oh and by the way, my girlfriend is also doing GREAT!!  She’s melting away too.  Coincidence???  I think not.

If you have a chance to attend a seminar, sign up!  If you’re going to lose weight, bring a pillow and eye mask with you.  It’s easier to do laying down than sitting in a seminar chair.

Listening to hypnosis recordings before sleep is actually the best time as the hypnotic instructions fall into the subconscious mind as you fall asleep. You may even dream about them. However, if you are too tired at bedtime to hear most of the recording before you fall asleep, another time to listen is recommended. It is true that we hear what is around us when we are sleeping. Even under anesthetic in surgery, we hear what is going on around us, but we forget consciously when we come out of the surgery. One client told me that after he was anesthetized for surgery, his surgeon told him that he would no longer want cigarettes. Following the surgery, he quit smoking but could not understand why, until his doctor told him what had happened.

We have two minds, something like an iceberg, a small part is above the water (conscious mind), but a larger part is below the water (subconscious mind). As we transition from ordinary sleep to wakefulness, from the subconscious state of mind, we often forget our many dreams that we had throughout the sleep. This is more evidence of the existence of two minds.

Some people will definitely benefit from the recordings being played while they are actually asleep, but the majority are best off to play them when they feel totally relaxed in body and focused with their mind upon the hypnotic instructions. Hypnosis is very unique for every person. Your sensations or experience will also be a little different each time that you enjoy your hypnosis. Hypnosis is not an ordinary sleep. For hypnosis, there needs to be a hypnotist, and for most people, hypnotic recordings are as effective as attending my live seminars.

When you use hypnosis recordings, there is no need to wonder about the experience, if you are doing it right or wrong. Simply disregard everything else and focus upon the voice of the hypnotic instructions. No need to do anything or to “try hard”. Just simply follow the hypnotic instructions and enjoy this daydream experience for a more peaceful mind and total self-control and personal power in all areas of your life.

According to WebMD.com, Swiss researchers did a study on using hypnosis to help women who suffer from insomnia.  The report concluded, “After listening to a sleep-promoting audio tape containing hypnotic suggestion, women who are suggestible to hypnosis spent two-thirds less time awake, and about 80 percent more time in deep sleep compared to those who slept without the hypnotic suggestion.”

Symptoms of insomnia may include difficulty falling asleep, waking up in the middle of the night and having trouble going back to sleep, waking up too early and feeling tired when you wake up. However, if you have long term insomnia, you should consult with your doctor to rule out any other causes (such as medication) that may be the cause of your insomnia.

Getting a good night’s sleep is very important for our health.  Students get better grades with good sleep.  Lack of sleep can lead to accidents.  Lack of sleep also makes you look and behave as if you were older.  You will lose weight easier with good sleep habits.

If you have trouble sleeping, make it a rule to avoid business after 6 or 7 pm.  You need to have a quiet down time.  Clear your mind before you fall asleep.  Laugh more.  Our bodies produce healthy chemicals when we laugh, which leads to healthy changes in the body, including more oxygen to the brain, a stronger immune system, endorphins, better sleep, lower blood pressure, less stress hormones, reduced need for medication, being less likely to have a heart attack, heart disease or illnesses, and a happy glow on your face with shining eyes.

Every night before you fall asleep, think about three good things that happened to you that day, and three things for which you are grateful.

Using hypnosis can make it possible for insomnia sufferers to have a normal sleep.  Hypnosis relaxes the body, and that alone can help you to fall asleep.  Hypnosis can be used to eliminate headaches, stress, and anxiety, all of which can prevent you from having a good night’s sleep.

Hypnosis is super concentration of the mind. You are not distracted by everyday thoughts. The greater the focus of the mind, the “deeper” the hypnosis. However, even a “light” or “medium’ trance with positive instructions from the hypnotist can produce enormous changes in your life. If the hypnotic directions or commands are not agreeable to the client, they can be rejected by what I call the subconscious censor.

The mind and body constantly influence each other. Imagine your favorite food. Vividly remember what it looks like, smells like, tastes like, feels like in your mouth and sounds like when you enjoy it. If you take time to do this, you will notice the flow of saliva in your mouth. Merely suggesting that a hypnotized person is eating different foods will cause different specific gastric secretions to properly digest each of those different foods.

Most nervous problems people have are caused by self-hypnosis. They have hypnotized themselves and they need to be dehypnotized. People will tell themselves over and over, “I can’t quit smoking”; “My family is all overweight, so I will be too”; “My parent died of this or that, so I fear that will happen to me too!” If you are going to keep repeating thoughts to yourself (hypnotic repetition), you had best make sure that they are positive thoughts, especially what you say to yourself before falling asleep.

The subconscious mind never sleeps, and will mull over, echo, and turn over your thoughts all night, especially the ones that you think about before sleep. Physicians often tell people to relax, but not how to relax. After being hypnotized, many people say “I have never felt so relaxed in my entire life.” Stress and tension influence the nervous system and can contribute to either causing or making worse almost any condition that is seen by a physician. Many skin conditions are a mirror of our emotions.

Mere words and thoughts have a magical power and can cause changes in organs and glands in our body. Our thoughts create chemicals, chemicals affect our feelings and feelings affect our behavior. For example, happy tears and sad tears have different chemicals. Thoughts can cause blushing with the rush of blood to the face. Thoughts can cause the heart to pound or to relax. Thoughts can cause someone to sweat. We have seen candidates perspire during the Presidential debates when they are under stress. Words create anger and feelings of love. Thoughts can heal or not. Professional hypnotists carefully select the words they use to focus a person’s attention and to stimulate their imagination for health, success and happiness.

A worst fear is thinking that something is wrong with you or your mind. This creates needless fear and anxiety. A new way of thinking must be instilled into the mind. Most any problem responds well to hypnosis. Hypnosis usually helps most any problem a little or completely. It is very unlikely that hypnosis cannot be of some help. Sometimes hypnosis requires more than one session. Recorded hypnosis sessions allow the client to repeat and reinforce the hypnosis at any time that is convenient.

Worry, anxiety and fear cause tension and symptoms. Once we have the symptoms, our worry and fear may increase. This increase in worry and fear causes more serious symptoms, so it becomes a vicious circle. For example, if you worry about not sleeping, your sleep habit will become worse. Many have stopped using sleep pills after being hypnotized or learning self-hypnosis. Most sexual disorders from impotence to frigidity respond favorably to hypnosis. “That which I hath feared hath come upon me.”

Worry can cause indigestion, headaches, high blood pressure and countless other conditions. Instructing the subconscious mind to look at challenges in a new way (reframing) can often be one simple solution. Often people have no disease at all, just anxiety, nervous tension and tightness in the body caused by fear. Sometimes words and ideas can do what medicine does not. Finding the cause and removing it can be better than suppression of the symptoms with drugs.

Hypnosis can break that vicious circle with total relaxation, confidence building and other specific instructions presented to the subconscious mind when attention is concentrated. The hypnotist does not “control” anyone. Hypnosis is “en rapport”, two minds working together, an instructor and a student. Hypnosis alone is a tremendous natural relaxant, but it is the specific hypnotic instructions that create the powerful specific changes desired.

Hypnotized people hear everything that the hypnotist says, otherwise they would be in an ordinary sleep. A hypnotised person is not unconscious. They are superaware and totally focused upon the hypnotist’s voice. If a hypnotist says “raise your hand”, the client raises only the hand from the wrist, not the entire arm. A hypnotic sleep is totally different from an ordinary sleep. If a boy runs fast, that is the opposite of the boy being tied fast to a chair. Words can have many different meanings. In addition, how the hypnotist says the word, in terms of pauses, volume level, repetition, and inflection can change the emotion that the word creates in the subconscious. Emotion always intensifies the hypnosis. Many will say to me, “Your voice is so empowering, makes me feel so confident, makes me feel more relaxed than ever before, makes me feel so good”, etc.

The subconscious cannot tell the difference between a real experience and an imaginary experience. People will wake up with a dream fearfully shouting or kicking under the covers. Their sleep partner will say: “Just relax, you are dreaming, everything is ok.” The person with the dream will say: “But it seemed so real.” That’s why people follow the instructions of the hypnotist. The healing words given by the hypnotist become concentrated in the mind of the client, and he follows them. He now believes he is a non smoker, wants to eat and exercise like a slim person, lets nails grow long, sleeps better, and stops drinking alcohol. This is simply because that is the clear picture of themselves that has been locked into their subconscious mind with hypnotic suggestion, imagery and repetition. I call it brain rinsing out the negative and replacing with the positive.

A nervous speaker or actor can be told under hypnosis in many different ways that he is confident, relaxed, poised, looking forward to his appearance; the audience is smiling, excited, applauding; he is speaking enthusiastically, full of energy, thoroughly enjoying his audience, etc. His mind is concentrated and his daydreams under hypnosis seem real to the subconscious mind. You become what you believe. How to Maximize Your Mind Power (Part 2 of 3)

Selective perception: Stare at a candle or any spot that you can intently focus your attention. Notice how you can block out everything else around you. While daydreaming, it is possible to not notice people coming in and out of a room. Your vision can become tunnel-like and you can see only the candle. This is similar to crystal gazing. If I wave a match back and forth in front of the eyes of a hypnotized person, he continues to stare straight ahead. However, if I tell the person he will act wide awake, but remain hypnotized to my voice, his eyes and head will follow the movement of the match. This hypnotic focus of attention causes the unconscious mind to lock down on post hypnotic instructions to follow them later.

We have two minds, the conscious and unconscious. Like an iceberg, 90% below the surface of the water, you might say the conscious mind is 10% of the mind, and the unconscious is 90%. When we learn to ride a bike, to type quickly on a keyboard, to drive a car and a thousand other tasks, we first use our conscious mind. “Let’s see, the gas pedal is here, this is the brake, the key goes here, adjust the mirror, etc.” After we are experienced by practice, everything becomes automatic, without thinking about it. We can be driving, thinking of many activities, and not remember a thing we passed. We may even drive past the exit we wanted to take. Sometimes we cannot think of a name with our conscious mind, but maybe we are lying in bed, walking down the street, or in a shower, and the name pops back into our conscious awareness.

The unconscious is that which we do or what we experience which is beyond conscious awareness. When the conscious and unconscious minds are in harmony, all goes well. When they are in conflict, there are problems. “I want to stop smoking, but something inside tells me to have a smoke.” When someone is playing sports, you may hear the comment: “I am in the zone”; “playing well”, as though it happens by itself. We practice consciously, but often perform best unconsciously. Properly worded hypnotic instructions aim to have the conscious and unconscious minds “shake hands”, to be in harmony for what is best for the mind and body, physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

As you notice hypnosis sensations, you can experiment enhancing them or reducing them. Typical sensations of hypnosis may include: focused attention; relaxation; feeling peace, calm; slower breathing; not feeling like moving; disassociation (example: “I felt like I was all mind with no body”); floating; numbness; heaviness; lightness; spinning; time distortion (“time passed quickly”), etc. Hypnosis is relaxing, refreshing and feels good. However, most people, unless experienced, are not aware they have actually been hypnotized.

When you hypnotize yourself, do it privately in a quiet room. Don’t decide what you are going to do. Just hypnotize yourself and let your unconscious do what needs to be done. Do not try to consciously control the process. Instead, lose yourself in the process by giving up control and allowing your unconscious to manifest itself to take control.

You need to have respect for and trust your unconscious mind to do the work. Dr. Milton Erickson often said: “Your unconscious mind knows a lot more about you than you do.” Simply go into hypnosis, give yourself a problem, and then let your unconscious mind take over. Just enter the trance with the thought “How do I become a clean fresh air breather”; “How do I become slim”; “How do I find this item” to communicate with your unconscious. All you do is ask the question, trust your unconscious mind to freely solve it and to choose when and how the solution will come.

Tell yourself what you want to do, then leave it to your unconscious mind. Do not continue to question when or how the answer will come. It is like you “deliver the envelope” request in the suggestion box only one time, knowing in your heart, mind, and gut that the solution is inevitable and will come when the time is right for the unconscious to reveal it to the conscious mind. Your unconscious has a lifetime of experience in the file cabinets of your mind to assist you without your help. Concern or doubts interfere with the process.

This is similar to going to sleep with a problem and waking up with the solution. The unconscious mind never sleeps. If you were to keep distrusting when, how and if the solution will manifest itself, you interrupt the coming of the solution. Dr. Erickson would often go into hypnosis and say: “Unconscious, do your stuff.” Have respect, trust and expect the best from your unconscious.

Top resolutions by people include a desire to lose weight, stop smoking, exercise more, improve health and looks, improve relationships, and to make or save more money.  Here are 10 helpful instructions to reach any goal:

  1. Create a written plan with a specific, measureable, realistic goal. If more exercise is the goal, be gradual in increasing intensity and duration of exercise. Being over ambitious leads to disappointment, or even injury. Make the goal simple, such as resolving to lose 10 pounds (just ‘lose weight’ is too vague); to eliminate soft drinks, candy and chocolate; to walk Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Have your deodorant only available at the gym? To control spending, cut up credit cards and have monthly automated savings? Improve a relationship by setting aside specific times to be with a loved one?
  2. Be accountable by making a verbal commitment to a few people.
  3. Enlist support from a family member, friend, mentor, professional, a class, a good book or self-help recording.
  4. Be positive, and think “I know I can do this.” Have an intense focused mind set on what you should do, not what you should not do. For example, instead of thinking of not smoking, focus on deep breathing, or drinking more water.
  5. Consider setbacks as learning experiences and do better next time.
  6. Talk to people who have done what you want to do and model them.
  7. Realize you have a choice, and going in the right direction reinforces your will power.
  8. Reward yourself for small steps to success with perhaps a movie, a small gift, a new outfit, a visit to a friend, etc.
  9. Several times a day, read a card with motivational reasons and benefits to stick to your plan: Have one on your mirror, and carry one in your wallet to read when waiting somewhere. Reading this just before you fall asleep strongly influences your subconscious mind.
  10. Keep a Daily Progress Journal to evaluate and improve your plan for success. People wanting to lose weight often say “I blew my program” when they did well on 20 meals out of 21 during the week. That’s over 95% success!

Many success coaches instruct others to start with easier goals to feel a sense of accomplishment. This gives confidence to achieve bigger goals. Sometimes it is best to focus all your mental energy on one major goal at a time, focusing on small steps. One brick at a time creates a building.  Patience and calm persistence leads to success. Plan how you will deal with any obstacles that may arise.

The key to my motivating methods is the use of hypnosis with people to intensely focus their mental powers on what they want; to boost their belief in themselves; to increase their self-love so they are totally dedicated to success; to instill positive self-talk, and to program mental success images into their subconscious mind so they imagine and feel that they have already succeeded.

Tips on How to Control Your Weight

  • There are only two ways to lose weight: fewer calories / more exercise.
  • Begin your day with exercise before breakfast and burn up the most calories with the least effort.
  • Eat a hearty breakfast of varied foods.  It will give you energy for the day and you can burn it off throughout the day.
  • Eat from a varied selection of food at lunch and dinner and feel full with less food.
  • Regularly review a card with your personal reasons to be trim, slim.
  • Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily, unless you have a medical problem preventing this as part of your program.
  • Review this program frequently for new ideas and reinforcement.
  • Be very careful what you think about.  You will probably get it.
  • Learn what foods are high, medium and low calorie.  Eat mostly low and medium calorie foods.  For a balanced nutritious food management program, include variety, especially fruits and vegetables.
  • There are 3,500 calories to the pound. Examples: 1 donut daily for a year adds 16 pounds of fat; a small  piece of apple pie with no ice-cream daily for a year adds 43 pounds of fat. Little things do count. Develop a dislike for greasy, oily, fatty and sweet foods.
  • Be careful how you cook foods, avoiding grease, high calorie oils.
  • Taste a little and know what the rest tastes like.
  • Enjoy the natural taste of potatoes, bread, vegetables, salads, etc. without butter, gravy, sour cream, salad dressings, oils, etc.  You will get used to the new taste.
  • Decide ahead! “I’ll be more relaxed; full with less; in control.”
  • “Your life is a direct mirror of the thoughts and experiences stored in your subconscious.  Be careful. Control the door to your subconscious and conscious mind.”
  • Dissolve false and phantom mental barriers to weight loss.
  • Be ready for positive ripples – changes in your eating habits will bring positive changes to many other areas in your life.
  • Hunger may be interpreted as a good sign, the fat saying “good-bye”.
  • Hunger may only be thirst, drink water first.
  • If you lose only 1 pound a week, that’s over 50 pounds in a year.  Be patient.
  • To control the urge to eat, have carrots, cauliflower, celery, etc. cut in fridge and ready to eat; do deep breathing, and moderate exercises such as walking, swimming, etc.
  • Alcohol has no nutritive value, but high calorie content.
  • Nobody forces food into your mouth. You have control.
  • Think thin, trim, slim, lean, fit, firm, slender, shapely, great body.
  • Omit adding sugar, salt, butter, syrup, jam, sour cream, gravy, salad dressings, chocolate bars, potato chips, french fries, chicken skins, soft drinks. If you taste a little, know what the rest tastes like and stop right there. If you have children, teach them good eating habits. You want them to have easy access to jobs, dates, clothes, good health.
  • Leave some food on the plate and lose weight. Occasional miseating is OK.
  • It is a sign of self-respect to treat your body and your mind well.
  • Eat to live. Do not live to eat. Develop other interests – no need to fight it.
  • Willpower strengthens with use. Set your weight goal. Be victorious!  Hypnosis changes attitudes!

Imagine the fading of reality around you and your absorption in the voice of the hypnotist. That is called hetero-hypnosis. Take away the hypnotist; fade away the reality again while you are absorbed in your own pre-planned positive thoughts. That is self-hypnosis.

As the person stops questioning their level of success, feels more comfortable and confident in their hypnotic ability to enter trance easily and quickly, their concentrated absorption becomes stronger. The general reality around them fades and the trance depth increases with the possibility of more dramatic results.

The goal is not just relaxation or meditation, but a powerful ability to hold attention steady, to concentrate confidently and effortlessly. Depth of trance and absorption improve with the use of the imagination, what you imagine seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling and tasting-using many senses with your imagination. Some people may imagine a hypnotist speaking to them. To reduce thinking in the trance, and thereby increase the power of the motivational instructions, it is best to go into self-hypnosis with a clear idea of what you want to suggest to yourself by writing a list of self-suggestions, before hypnosis. You want to basically turn off your thinking mind in hypnosis. While self-hypnotized, some people simply focus on just one image, word, or phrase that reminds them of all the intended self-suggestions.

Some people start self-hypnosis by gazing at one spot, above eye level, letting their eyes begin to feel heavy, tired, and then allow the eyes to close as they “go inside themselves”, relaxing deeper with each breath, melting down with each descending floor of an imaginary escalator or elevator, etc.

The more someone struggles to achieve or control self-hypnosis, the less the success that is experienced. With practice, you can create a trigger thought, word, phrase, or action that rapidly returns you to the self-hypnotic trance, at will. It is a pleasant and enjoyable feeling like a big daydream, and you can come out whenever you decide to do so.

Before you begin self-hypnosis, you need to have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish by having a closer connection to your subconscious mind. As you feel deeply absorbed in your inner experience, depth of trance may vary over time in the same session. A daily practice of self-hypnosis increases your ability, depth and success with the technique. Self-hypnosis begins to feel more normal, more natural, deeper and more focused.

Often the fastest way to learn self-hypnosis is to be hypnotized by a hypnotist or recordings, and then be given instructions that you can re-hypnotize yourself anywhere, anytime at will.

Hetero-hypnosis and self-hypnosis are similar to relaxation techniques and are also associated with lowered blood pressure, respiratory rate, and heart rate. There is a shift to an “internal world” inside yourself. Hetero-hypnosis is often called guided self-hypnosis.

During daydreaming, eyes become fixed, go out of focus, or shift to the left. The experienced daydreamer learns to control their thought stream, intensify their personal imagery and to take pleasure with the process.

Again, doubts or anxiety about being successful with the state must be eliminated. Trusting yourself, your abilities, and believing you are doing well goes a long way here. After giving your subconscious the instructions to reach your goals, it is best to let it go, thus totally trusting your unconscious mind to do whatever needs to be done. Any doubts here will interfere with success. As Dr. Milton Erickson described it: “OK, unconscious, do your stuff.”

Like being guided to ride a bicycle, and then you ride on your own, hetero-hypnosis is often the best way to learn self-hypnosis, then you can later do it on your own without a hypnotist or recording. As greater trance depth in self-hypnosis is achieved, you have to keep yourself from drifting off to sleep, unless that is what you desire.

You can even imagine that a balloon is pulling your right arm up, floating in the air, then the strings are cut, and your arm drops to your lap, touches your leg, and you go deeper into trance. As you do that, consider the color of the balloons, many balloons, reflections of light on the balloons, drifting, floating, lifting, rising. To make the experience more real, also focus on the smell of the balloons, the large size of the balloons, and the feeling of the strings on your wrist. Forget about your arm, let it have a mind of its own, but focus on imagining the balloon pulling your wrist higher and higher. The floating and falling of your arm can be outward, visual proof that you have entered hypnosis.

Self-hypnosis can be used in emergencies such as an accident, or everyday experiences such as before a meal to reduce calories. For example, in self-hypnosis, you can give yourself instructions (using many senses) that your favourite soft drink has 15 teaspoons of sugar in the bottom of the bottle, along with the visualization of spiders, cockroaches and rat droppings. Strong visual images, especially if repeated, can work remarkably well. With experience, a self-instruction like this can be completed in seconds.

In fact, self-hypnosis should be taught to anyone losing weight and every student in school, even children. Psychological research shows children have used self-hypnosis to treat anxiety, asthma, body cast immobilization, burns, enuresis, hair pulling, insomnia, learning difficulties, nausea, pain, poor self-esteem, stuttering, tension and increased self-control. Like any skill, proper instruction and practice result in the mastering of self-hypnosis. Realize that you are responsible for your own practice and praise yourself for your successes. Adults can share the experience together with children as a relaxation, stress management tool.

All you need to do to bring yourself out of self-hypnosis is to count silently to yourself from 1 to 5. Tell yourself that at 5, you will be wide awake, fully alert, feeling great. Again, the highest level of skill with self-hypnosis will come from starting your training with a live hypnotist or self-hypnosis training recordings. With practice, you will soon be able to do self-hypnosis without any external aid from a hypnotist or recordings. You will also learn how to deepen hypnosis on your own. Then, you can use self-hypnosis alone, anywhere, anytime, whenever needed. A man from Northern BC told me at my seminar that he had found the self-hypnosis he learned from me to be useful when a bear attacked and mauled him.

Whatever you do, you can do it better with self-hypnosis and enjoy a feeling of self-mastery. For example, a change in your feelings, in your beliefs, in your ability to cope with chronic pain can give rise to a dramatic change in self-image and enjoyment of life. Self-hypnosis allows an extension of treatment by a hypnotist. That is, whether weight loss, smoking, stress or something else, the client now has a tool in his own head that he can use whenever needed.

In both hetero-hypnosis and self-hypnosis, people experience a high degree of focused mental absorption on new ideas and beliefs, together with a fading of the external environment. Self-hypnosis, with vivid mental imagery is excellent for all personal growth, enhancement and the development of creative potential. Your confidence in using self-hypnosis will increase with practice.

You will gain control over many aspects of your life hypnotizing yourself and giving yourself positive suggestions in seconds, even with your eyes open. I often do this standing in a grocery store line.

A German philosopher, Arthur Schopenhauer once said: “All truth passes through three stages: first it is ridiculed; next it is violently opposed; third it is accepted as being self-evident.”

When people do not understand something, they often fail to investigate further. In fact, often they fear the unknown so much that they would never dare to investigate further.  Hypnosis is used globally as a tool by thousands of physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, dentists, ministers, counsellors, social workers, etc. because it is a useful tool.  More professionals are using hypnosis every day for faster healing and for overcoming problems in people’s lives, often in areas where nothing else worked.

Heart operations have taken place under hypnosis, with no anesthetic whatsoever. A surgeon in Ireland, Dr. Jack Gibson performed over 4000 major and minor surgeries with hypnosis as the sole anesthetic. Athletes all over the world use hypnosis and self-hypnosis to achieve maximum performance. Whatever you do, you will do it better with hypnosis and/or self-hypnosis. Hypnosis has proven useful with adults and children.  Here are some interesting reports from clients I have helped with hypnosis:

  • A client told me she was addicted to drinking several family size Cokes every single day. I hypnotized her and told her that when she looked at a Coke bottle she would see various disgusting things floating inside the bottle, that she had chosen. It could be cockroaches, worms, spit, hair, urine, feces, rats, snakes, etc. We constructed the hypnotic visual image to include drinking the Coke with this concoction of disgusting things, including the taste, the feel, and the smell for a stronger emotional imagery. We added her imagining drinking this mixture and her feeling nauseous, vomiting, and her friends running away disgusted.  When she returned for a second reinforcement session a week later, she reported no longer drinking any Coke whatsoever.
  • A client came into my office with a note from his psychiatrist which simply said: “Please relax this patient.” After handing me the note, the client leaped into my large, soft, plush armchair and shouted: “Hurry up and relax me.”  By using hypnosis and teaching him to practice progressive stress reduction techniques, he was able to enjoy life more, and the little things of life that used to upset him no longer troubled him.
  • Another client told me that he would feel furious when he was in a traffic jam. He would take his glasses off, hold them in his hand and squeeze them in anger. That angry adrenalin rush was affecting his happiness, and his health. I hypnotized him to be more relaxed by simply thinking the words “calm and relaxed”, and taught him self-hypnosis. This became an instant trigger for him to calm down.
  • I have had clients who led such stressful lives (an accountant at tax deadline time, a taxi driver, and others) that they smoked 4-5 packages of cigarettes a day, yes a day, yet they stopped smoking with hypnosis.
  • Self-hypnosis, hypnotizing yourself in the daytime, or before sleep is a valuable tool. I have taught self-hypnosis to people for use in pain control, sports, and especially overeating, or wherever people needed to reinforce hypnosis for a period of time.

As you go to sleep tonight, think about all the things for which you are grateful.  You’ll have a much better sleep.

How many times have you thought something was impossible, but you did it?  How many times have parents, employers, friends, and even physicians have said you will never do this or that, but they were dead-wrong.  Many times I have heard physicians say “this is going to hurt, you’ll never walk again, there is no cure”, and if the person accepted the belief, that is exactly what would happen. Our beliefs rule our lives, unless we learn to examine and control them.

In one case, a physician came to see his patient after surgery.  The patient was unable to walk, yet the surgery had nothing to do with the ability to walk. When the patient was hypnotized, he was able to recall hearing a conversation between two doctors in the hallway outside his room.  The doctors in the hallway said “he’ll never walk again”, however, they were talking about someone else.  Because the patient had just come out of surgery, his mind was groggy, focused and very suggestible.  The hypnotist removed the negative belief and the patient was again able to walk.  The hypnotist merely said to the hypnotized patient “they were talking about a different patient, you can easily walk”.

As you can understand, the mind is very open to following positive or negative instructions when the mind is concentrated.  Fortunately, hypnosis can change beliefs and these new beliefs can bring health to the body as well as success and happiness.  Of the greatest importance is that negative instructions are not given, and secondly, that the instructions are positive, planned, and powerful whenever the mind is focused and concentrated on the instructions.

You can use hypnosis to change your life with either live sessions with a hypnotist or even hypnosis recordings.  Next time you think something is impossible, challenge your beliefs.  Here are some examples of wrong thinking:

  • 1902: Astronomer Simon Newcomb said “flight by machine heavier than air is unpractical and insignificant, if not utterly impossible”.
  • 1913: The American Road Congress stated “it is an idle dream to imagine that… automobiles will take the place of railways in the long distance movement of … passengers”.
  • 1927: Harry Warner of Warner Brother’s Studios said “who the hell wants to hear actors talk”.
  • 1943: Thomas J. Watson, chairman of IBM said “I think there is a world market for about five computers”.
  • 1977: Ken Olsen, president of Digital Equipment Corporation said “there is no reason for any individual to have a computer in their home.”

Brainwave activity changes with hypnosis. When you are hypnotized, you move from the wide awake brainwave beta state to slower theta waves. You experience changes such as fluttering eyelids, slower, smoother, more regular and deeper breathing. Your body relaxes, and time is distorted as your mind focuses more and more on the voice of the hypnotist, following his instructions. Time passes quickly as you drift, dream, and float with the hypnotic instructions.

Good feelings are felt in hypnosis because the body releases the pleasure chemical, dopamine. When you are hypnotized, instructions given by the hypnotist can change your beliefs. For example, you can be hypnotized to believe you are a nonsmoker; to believe you love exercise, to dislike biting your nails, to believe you have powerful concentration, to block out pain, to be more relaxed in all situations, etc.

Hypnotic instructions given before and after surgery reduce the need for excessive anesthesia and medication. Recovery is faster, and hospital stays are shorter. There is less bleeding, less pain, and the person’s bodily functions all return to normal faster. To a great extent, what we truly believe, we become: healthy or unhealthy, happy or sad, even rich or poor.

Quantum physics suggests that we are the creator of our own realities. Our expectations and intentions, our ability to focus our mind power creates our future.
Every cell in our body has a mind, a consciousness. Hypnosis allows us to influence and change our health, our mood, and what we can achieve by changing our beliefs. A magnifying glass can focus the rays of the sun to start a fire that can destroy a city. Hypnosis helps us to focus our mind power for health, happiness, and success.

You do not even need a hypnotist. You can use a specific hypnosis recording to change your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. The greatest misconception I have heard from people in the last 50 years is the false belief that they need to see a hypnotist in person to be helped. Thousands of people have used my hypnosis recordings in their own home. Virtually anyone using my hypnosis recordings will enjoy a better life.

Two secrets of going into hypnosis are: First, do not care if you know you are hypnotized. Most people don’t know anyway. Assume you are hypnotized, and keep focusing effortlessly on my voice. Don’t care if you are hypnotized because you won’t know anyway. Just go with the flow, and let all the instructions sink into every cell of your brain and body for you to become the way you want to be.

Secondly, really be there with the instructions, as if everything you are told is really true, right now, the moment it is being said. Use all your senses with your imagination: see, hear, feel, smell, taste. Really be there. When I hear hypnotic instructions from a hypnosis recording, I accept it all as true. I do not evaluate, judge, or criticize. I open my mind, trust, and the instructions work FAST. Yes, I use my own hypnosis recordings too, and have done so for over 50 years. The season is changing, and you can too, if that is what you strongly desire. There is an old saying: “A tree unbending will soon break.”

The first step to changing is action with the new knowledge. Knowledge alone is not power. Action is the real power. Another important principle of neurolinguistic programming is “If what you are doing is not working, do something different.” That is, stop banging your head against a wall.

Hot flashes is one of the most common symptoms of menopause. Over two thirds of women in North America experience hot flashes during perimenopause (pre-menopause) and menopause according to WebMD.

The best thing about using hypnosis to cool hot flashes is that this method is natural, easy to use and safe. Other solutions for hot flashes include hormone replacement, antidepressant paroxetine, anti-seizure medication like gabapentin and clonidine, and blood-pressure medication. These may be effective, but they all have noticeable, and even serious side effects and risks such as stroke, dementia and breast cancer. Hypnosis, being a non-drug solution, is safe for all women. Tests show that using hypnosis methods, similar to my recording ‘Cool Those Hot Flashes’ hypnotic session for menopause, reduces hot flashes by up to 47% within three weeks and 61% at six weeks.

Headaches can be caused by stress, anxiety, poor diet, lack of sleep, lack of exercise, medications, food sensitivity, caffeine, overwork, tension, allergies, etc. If you have a lot of headaches, it is important to talk to your doctor to make sure that the headache is not a symptom of something else. Using hypnosis to eliminate a headache has no side effects, and none of the dangers of stomach upset, heart attack, or stroke often associated with pain killers.

Make sure you are taking good care of yourself. Eat right, get plenty of exercise, drink lots of water and get plenty of rest. Stress, anxiety and tension should be avoided, but this is not always possible. You can use hypnosis to help control stress, anxiety and tension. By just being hypnotized, headaches often simply disappear due to the deep relaxation.

Negative thoughts make you more susceptible to headaches and other problems. So, staying positive and happy will certainly help. Be around people who are upbeat and happy. Get out and do things with people. Go for a walk, see a movie, go to the mall or go out for dinner with friends. These will all help you be, and stay, positive.

Never say to yourself, “He gives me a headache”. You could be unwittingly causing a headache by negative self-hypnosis.

There are many hypnosis techniques that can be used to cure a headache. You can close your eyes and put yourself into a light daydream state and imagine the headache is drifting and floating away, getting smaller and smaller, until it is gone.

Here is another technique that I have used to help many people get rid of headaches (and other discomforts). You can try it yourself next time you have a headache. Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes and relax. Take three deep breathes slowly, in and out. With your index finger of one hand actually draw a picture in mid-air of the pain. You want to draw the perimeter, the outside border of the headache. Make the “drawing” as exact as possible. Draw every nook and cranny. The picture should be done very slowly and it should be very large (about 2 ½ feet high). You might have someone watch you to tell you to slow down or to make it bigger. If your headache is not completely gone, repeat the method.

You can imagine you are an actor playing a role. To make it real, imagine what you see, hear, feel, taste and smell. Really immerse yourself into the fantasy as you are guided by Romane’s relaxing voice. The important principle is that the subconscious accepts imaginary experiences as if they are real experiences. That is why a dream can seem like a vivid experience of real life.

Here is how you can vary the visual: Make it color or black and white; vivid or washed out, fading; bright or dark; sharp details or fuzzy; close or far; moving or still; fast or slow; you can be in the image, or watching from afar; see yourself from the right, left, front and back; 3 dimensional or flat; other people larger or smaller. For example, you could imagine foods you should not eat with cockroaches, worms, snakes, etc. Use all your senses to make the fantasy seem as real as possible. Create the image, and then let it mull over in your mind as you focus upon it in a dreamy way. To eliminate habits, you imagine them as far away, tiny, faded. To establish goals, you bring them close, make them large, vivid and clear.

Here is how to vary the auditory: sound from inside or outside; rich, clear or full/nasal or grating; loud or whisper; fast or slow; constant or intermittent; stereo or mono.

Here is how to vary the kinesthetic: tingling; warm relaxed/cold tense; where is it felt in your body; is the sensation moving or still; steady/continuous or waves; starts where; fast/slow.

Have you ever noticed that you start to feel better when you are on your way to your doctor’s office? This is very common. Many people feel better as soon as they take medication, even though there has not been enough time for the medication to take effect. Experiments have been done where someone was told by several co-workers that they do not look well. The person subjected to the negative programming would often begin to feel ill, checking themselves in the mirror several times to see how they look.

An event may happen that can trigger anger or embarrassment in one person, but the same event may not have any effect on another person. Hypnosis allows us to control our thoughts, feelings, and behavior. The body and mind are one. What affects the mind also affects the body and what affects the body affects the mind.

It is just as important to train and condition our mind as well as our body. We need to learn to control the power of our subconscious mind with hypnosis in order to control our thoughts, feelings and behavior. Learning this self-control brings maximum health, happiness and success.

In hypnosis, your mind has maximum concentration on positive and life-changing instructions. With hypnotic meditation, the mind may be changed to enjoy higher self-confidence, self-esteem, love of self, self-discipline and peace of mind.

For a happy and successful life, we need to ensure that we have good air, good water, and healthy food. We need a good sleep, love, exercise, sunshine, goals, laughter and play, friends (at least one best friend), satisfying work, appreciation of art, music and humor. We also need a philosophy of life and positive thinking that supports and sustains us through tough times. You can ask yourself if any of these areas need help and you can make a plan to create a better brand new life. You will feel empowered, in control of your life.

I encourage you to use hypnosis daily, and if you have children, to teach them how to use the power of their own mind. Mind power methods can be mastered easily by using my hypnosis books, recordings and self-hypnosis. Another huge benefit of daily hypnosis and self-hypnosis is a reduction of tension and stress. This alone results in many mental and physical problems vanishing spontaneously.

If you participate in a stage hypnosis comedy show for entertainment purposes, you may not be hypnotized. The method of hypnosis used at a hypnosis show is designed to work rapidly, to be entertaining. Because of the speed of the hypnotizing method, some of the volunteers may not be hypnotized. Also, some people may not be able to focus their attention, as they believe they will be asked to do embarrassing acts.

Many people experience hypnosis everyday without realizing it. I call them “naturals”. These “naturals” get lost in the book they are reading. They drive for miles and forget much of what they have passed. They often daydream and forget about the world around them.

Even if you are not a “natural” for hypnosis, you can learn how to be hypnotized. If you attend my seminar, I will take time to condition you for hypnosis and teach you how to go into hypnosis. Some people need to be trained to follow the simple instructions to be hypnotized. I also have a hypnosis conditioning recording that trains people to be hypnotized in their own home. A person who is hypnotized has magnified concentration on the voice of the hypnotist.

When I want to be hypnotized, I simply pay close attention to the hypnotist’s voice. Whatever his instructions, I imagine and visualize the hypnotist’s instructions as clearly as possible. I imagine whatever he says by using as many senses as possible. I ask myself: what do I see, hear, feel, smell, and taste, to create an image and feeling so that what the hypnotist says seems very real. I really BE there. I stop analyzing. I stop wondering, caring, or questioning if I am really hypnotized. I just enjoy imagining and following the instructions. I tell myself to believe that what he says is true.

Then, I let my subconscious take over, to go with the flow, to imagine as if I am dreaming, to allow everything the hypnotist says to be true and real. I really BE there. At this point, the hypnosis is deeper and more effective. The more you allow yourself to be focused on the hypnotist’s voice, and the more real the hypnotist’s instructions seem to be, the deeper you are in hypnosis. After I absorb the instructions while I am hypnotized, I will follow them as post hypnotic instructions when I come out of hypnosis.

Most people should reinforce any hypnosis instructions (for stopping smoking, weight management, etc.) with hypnosis recordings. By reinforcing the instructions, the changes will remain a permanent life change with virtually anyone. When people do not take the time to reinforce the hypnosis a few times with a recording, the problem may return.

Being hypnotized is a skill. With practice, you can enter hypnosis faster. With practice, and deepening methods, you can go into a deeper level of hypnosis.

 

It was not until the 19th century that Dr. Sigmund Freud was able to prove the existence of a “second mind”. This “second mind”, the subconscious, holds absolute control over our life. The subconscious controls our habits, our likes, our dislikes, thoughts, feelings, behaviour, health, our success, and our failure. You may temporarily forget a name, a word, a number, or some fact, but then it comes back to you. This proves the existence of a second mind. The subconscious does not distinguish between real and imaginary experiences. Sometimes real life seems like a dream and when you awaken from a dream, the dream may seem so real, that if feels like it really happened.

When your subconscious programming is positive, you are more successful, happier and healthier. For your best life, you want to fill your mind with positive, peaceful, joyful and loving thoughts. The ideal time to program your mind with hypnosis recordings or self-hypnosis is before sleep. The positive instructions turn over and echo in your subconscious while you sleep. The instructions are easily locked into your subconscious mind, as the subconscious does not evaluate them. The subconscious simply accepts without evaluation. Another good time to play hypnosis recordings is when you first wake up, as your mind is generally more relaxed, uncritical and able to absorb the positive instructions to guide you throughout the day.

For hypnosis to be the most successful, you should want the change to take place. You can set aside a few moments, and write down all the benefits that will happen when the change that you desire has taken place. The subconscious is powerfully influenced by what we clearly visualize. Your visualization skills, your ability to see pictures in your mind becomes stronger with practice. When you visualize, really be there, feeling totally successful. You can increase the emotional voltage of the hypnotic instructions by imagining with all your senses what you see, hear, smell, taste and feel. The goal is to visualize, as real as possible, an image of your self looking, acting and feeling the exact way you wish to be, as if the change has already taken place.

An e-cigarette is a battery-powered devise which is a substitute for tobacco smoking.  It usually uses a heating element that vaporizes a liquid solution.  Some solutions contain a mixture of nicotine and flavour, while others release a flavored vapor without nicotine.  If they release nicotine, they carry a risk of developing a nicotine addiction. 

Apparently, some of these devices have shown to contain cancer causing agents, similar to nicotine gum and inhalers, according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).  I have heard that some of the most risky e-cigarettes are coming from China. 

Lowell Dale, M.D. PhD., associate professor at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine says that when the FDA analyzed samples of two popular brands of these e-cigarettes, they found variable amounts of nicotine and traces of toxic chemicals, including carcinogens. This prompted the FDA to issue a warning about potential health risks. 

A study from France’s National Consumers Institute concluded that e-cigarettes are “potentially carcinogenic” because some brands contain formaldehyde (embalms dead bodies) that approaches those of conventional cigarettes.  Doctor Matthew Stanbrook says; “we should not assume they are safe, just because they appear to be less harmful than conventional cigarettes”.

Health Canada continues to advise Canadians not to use e-cigarettes as they might pose a health risk. 

E-cigarettes duplicate the ritual and process of holding a cigarette.  You blow out a vapor that looks like tobacco smoke.  The problem with this is that you are still hooked on a device that is unnecessary to life, but you keep using it with all the situations and emotions that caused you to smoke regular cigarettes in the past.  The best solution is to eliminate this gimmick which could be compared to an infant pacifier.

First let me explain the difference between the CDs and the DVDs.
 
The DVDs are a recording of a live seminar. Some people like to feel they are attending a live seminar and prefer to be able to “see” the hypnotist. There are two hypnosis sessions: a hypnosis conditioning session and a hypnosis session to stop smoking permanently. During the hypnosis, a spinning spiral will come on your TV or computer screen. Simply watch the spinning spiral until you feel like closing your eyes and then just listen to the rest of the hypnosis session. Most people find that the spinning spiral helps them to go into hypnosis faster and deeper.
 
The CDs have been recorded in a studio and are crystal clear with no background noise, such as coughing, etc. There are more hypnosis sessions on the CDs than there are on the DVDs. Some are longer sessions and some are shorter sessions, for variety. You have the option to choose between a short or long session.  Also, the four hypnosis sessions are all different, in order to meet the needs of different types of people. 
 
Are CDs or DVDs more effective?  The choice is a personal choice. You should choose whichever format you are most likely to use more frequently. Think about where you would be using the recordings and what machine you have available.
 
Whichever set you decide to use, I recommend that you play them all through once, then pick your favorite hypnosis session and play it once a day, preferably just before sleep, for about 15 days. Then you can taper off and only use the recordings if you feel you need them. 

What if you slip and go back to smoking?  This is unlikely if you follow the instructions on the recordings.  The instructions are so simple that a child could follow them.  However, if you do go back to smoking, all you have to do is start playing the recordings again.  Please feel free to contact us if you need support or have any questions.

We visit some cities several times a year, and others perhaps only once every several years.  My advice is to order hypnosis recordings right now, get rid of your problem as soon as possible and enjoy a brand new life.  Hypnosis works instantly for many people.  However, for permanent changes, some people need to reinforce the hypnosis by playing a hypnosis session several times.
